Fall Detector
Falls are the leading cause of fatal accidents among people aged 65 and over. Since 2009, Telecom Design has been developing highly reliable automatic fall detection technology to help address this growing challenge.
The technology can be seamlessly integrated into wearable devices such as wrist-worn bracelets and pendants. If a senior experiences a serious fall, the system automatically triggers an alert—without requiring the wearer to press a button or take any action.
How does it work?
The 3 key stages of automatic fall detection:
1. Detection
When a person wearing a bracelet or pendant equipped with our technology experiences a heavy fall, the sensors detect the key indicators of a fall—including loss of balance, a sudden change in speed, and a strong impact with the ground.
2. Analysis
The technology then analyzes the person’s movements for up to 30 seconds. If they remain motionless and/or do not get back up, the system confirms that a fall has occurred.
3. Alert
Once a fall is confirmed, an alert is automatically sent to a transmitter. The alarm is then relayed to a telecare operator or a designated family member, enabling help to be provided as quickly as possible.

The automatic fall detection technology is specifically designed to identify heavy falls, situations involving a sudden change in speed followed by a strong impact with the ground. At the heart of the technology is a unique, advanced algorithm developed over years of research and innovation.
For users, reliable fall detection provides reassurance that help can be triggered when they need it most. Achieving the highest possible detection rate is therefore essential. At the same time, minimizing false alarms is crucial for telecare operators, helping them focus their resources on genuine emergencies and maintain efficient call centre operations.
